REDWOOD SHORES, Calif. 05-FEB-2008 05:05 AM Oracle today announced that Forrester Research highlighted Oracle's next-generation operational support system solutions (NGOSS) in the independent research firm's recent report, "Oracle Is Well Prepared to Address NGOSS Opportunities," (December 2007) part of its "NGOSS SWOT" series. The report notes Oracle's commitment "to addressing BSS/OSS telecom requirements." |
In the report, Forrester Senior Analyst Michele Pelino highlights Oracle's modular, standards-based software products and individual product or full-suite sales options, noting, "This productized, modular strategy fits well into the standards-based, commercial, off-the-shelf IT environment that telecom operators are moving toward in the next-generation OSS arena. In addition, Oracle leverages the TM Forum's enhanced Telecom Operations Map (eTOM) framework, shared information database (SID) and other NGOSS principles during the product development process." |
Further, Pelino writes, "Oracle's commitment to the telecom sector and to providing communications service providers with BSS/OSS solutions to address their unique requirements is evident from the company's strategic acquisitions and corporate activities." The report highlights Oracle's acquisition of leading telecommunications software providers Siebel Systems (CRM), Portal Software (IP billing), MetaSolv Software (service positioning and activation) and Netsure Telecom (network intelligence); its creation of Oracle Communications; and its launch of Oracle Application Integration Architecture for Communications to unify applications as evidence of its commitment to the telecommunications BSS/OSS software segment. |
"Service providers worldwide are under increased pressure to reduce time-to-market for new products and services, cut costs and increase flexibility to support delivery of new, next-generation IP-based services," said David Sharpley, vice president of product marketing and channels, Oracle Communications. "Oracle is deeply committed to providing the industry's most complete suite of modular communications applications pre-integrated using our open, standards-based integration architecture to help service providers worldwide meet these challenges and compete in today's dynamic communications environment."
